For the Fins we all had different ideas like a normal triangle but we felt like it was to original so we started to write down some on a separate piece of paper. There was one where it had a straight line and a curve. In the end we choose the triangle because it was to difficult to make the curve with the razor blade. we made the outline of the triangles and cut them out, glued them on to the rocket. We had four fins. Down below is the pictures and process of what we did.
In class I started to make my motor design. Our body is going to be eight inches long and 1 1/4 inches wide and we will be making this out of flooring paper glue and modge podge. The fins will be made out of balsa wood because it light not that heavy and our motor is already heavy the motor would weighs about 80g, but were not so sure were going to see how big the body would look and see where to place them. The cone will be made out of balsa wood also but instead of a point at the end it's going to be curved but we don't want it to be hollow so we will add stuff into the cone. our parachute will be made out of plastic with a streamer.
I choose to do this project beacause I collect rocks and it would be more interesting to learn more about them like making them. 95% of Earths crust is 97% made out of silicates.Making the rocks there was a combination of silicon and oxygen. What the Earth is made out of: Core- soilid iron and nickle Outer core- Liquid iron and nickle Mantle- Molten rock (silicates) Crust- outersolidified mantal On the periodic table the further up you go the more electrons you have token away. The further the electrons are the more reactive it is Materials you need: •Sodium Silcate •Sodium chloride •Copper sulfate •3 tubes Steps:
In the first test tube what happen was the balls looked more string like. In our second test tube it started of as a red dot but than a sort pf blue started to grow up straigt but on the top of the straight blue line was abubble and when it popped it stopped growing. In the third test tube nothing happend. I wanted to see what would happen if I put baking soda and vinegar into a bag because I have heard what happened. Materials: •Baking soda •Vinegar •a bag •flask •spoon What we did was put baking soda into the bag, twist it than we poored the vinegar into the bag closed it tightly and we untwisted the baking soda and the bag started to exspand and got cooled. After that we tryed a glove to see if it would expand but it had failed we believed it didnt work because we didnt add enough vinegar so we added more and than it started to exspand but it didnt get cold. I did this project because I wanted to learn more new things in chemistry to see if maybe I could use these things later on in life or to do something cool later on. What we did in this project was i learned that a chemical Reaction is a change in matter where the Atoms in one or more substance combine, separate, or rearrange to form one or more new substance. An atom is a basic unit of a chemical element, a source of nuclear energy and a extremely small amount of a thing or quality.
What my partner and I did was we shake the flask that had water and situ acid, than we got magnesium and we spiraled it up and made them small to put into the flask when we put it in the flask it started to bubble so right away we put a balloon on the top of the flask and the balloon started to expand because of the gas from the situ acid. My partner and I decided to wait till the bubbles stop, when the bubbles stopped we tied our balloon and what happened was the balloon started to go up on its on but while my partner and I were experimenting I had notice that it attached to my partner's shirt but it would repeal with my clothes, I found that interesting. After that andrew put a balloon on a stick and had fire and it would poop very loudly.I felt like individually I performed well because i took good notes and contributed. In partnership my partner and I did well we asked questions follow directions.
